Honoring My Better Half

Today I am honoring my husband, my biz partner, my best friend and my definite better half.  I am taking moments throughout the day to remember just why I fell in love with him in the first place.

I am also  remembering WHY he is my best choice as my partner in crime so to speak in this life of family, work and play!

Everyone needs to be extra appreciated sometime!  Thanks B, for all you do and all you are!

The Bachelor Party!

Hello fellow Grooms,

Woohoo yeah party time!  Today I’ll be discussing the infamous Bachelor Party!  It’s also known as the Stag Party, Buck’s Party, Bull’s Party and etc.  Whichever the case may be, it’s the right of passage for Grooms before heading towards the alter.

***WARNING THE FOLLOW COMMENTS BELOW ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!***

Ok now that we have that out of the way let’s get back into it.

PREPARATION

Grooms your trusty Best Man is typically responsible for these so called rituals.  When most people think of these parties, strippers normally spring up to mind.  Grooms pay attention to this next line.  Brides sometimes don’t appreciate any strippers around their Groom most especially before getting hitched.  In these cases, it’s crucial that Grooms (ready for this one) “communicate” with their Bride.  That’s right Grooms I said it, it’s time to talk.  Get your Bride’s input about the whole situation (pronounced sitchu aaa suun).  Yes my wife and I are from the east coast.  You might be surprised by your Bride’s answer.  If it’s a no go then perhaps offer up a strip club instead.  Yes for all of you Brides reading this, strip clubs are actually safe.  You have Tonga sized bouncers named Tiny & Little looking out for their performance dancers so there’s NO touching.  So once you have the thumbs up then it’s time to have a little chat with you Best Man.  Let your bro know what’s cool and what’s going to get you in the dog house indefinitely.

PLANNING

There are tons of ideas out there and I’m sure you Grooms have your own too.  Let’s keep it simple and think about this.  Who do you plan on inviting to your shindig?  Is it a few close friends?  Friends and relatives such as your brother, dad, and uncles?  There’s a ton to consider when planning a bachelor party so get together with your Best Man to brainstorm.  Some Brides & Grooms even plan to have the party together.  So here are a few ideas:

Traditional Strip Club – Fun, exciting, loud and rowdy.  Good times yet may not be for everyone.

Golf Outing – More and more Grooms and their men go out for a fun filled day of golfing, drinking, chatting, drinking, and etc.  It’s great time for everyone even those that don’t play.  Rent some clubs and hit the links.

Fishing Trip – Charter a boat and head out for some fishing fun.  Groomsmen all love to fish.  If not tough it out, it is the Groom’s party.

Vegas Baby – Try your luck at the strip.  It’s a good place to party for the Groom, just try to stay out of jail!  That’s the Best Man’s job.

Road Trip – Time to get away with the boys and reflect.  Pack up the bags, grab some snacks, and head off for a road trip.  Let’s not make this into the movie, but it is a great way to unwind before the big day.  It’s perfect for all just make sure you get a big enough vehicle.

Bottom line Grooms, get out there and have some fun.  Best Man, make sure you bring your boy back in one piece.  Most importantly, plan the trip or party a few days before the big day not the night before.  This will give you at least a few days buffer to make it in time for the wedding!  As always…stay safe, keep cool, and kiss your Bride to be!

Photoshop Twenty – Venice 1998 In Film

From 1994 to 1998 I spent a gazillion hours on the MAC, in Photoshop.  I wrecked havoc on images and graphics as I found my way around PSD docs and saved lots of crap to zip disks. Yeah! A few hundred megabytes of stuff. But Photography didn’t really rear its head seriously until a trip with my best friend David.  While I had always taken pictures (since the 70’s) and had stirrings of creative, photographic  delight, it was that trip to Venice, Italy that photography changed my life and ignited my passion, furiously. It became my first love for a very long time and in 2002 it moved to second place, replaced by my husband and partner, Byron. But move as it may, it brought to it a whole other level and dimension with the fine art and the digital nurturing I was able to partake in due to my love nesting with Byron. With Byron by my side I learned how to make sense of my art.  How to have discipline, to be consistent in my work, how to be savvy technically and how my talent was believable.  And together all of it was quite the combination! Byron+Me+Photography+Art = Passionate, provocative, beautiful, love evoking imagery (among other things). Then add Photoshop in the mix, yikes! I’d say I had finally found my long awaited simmering, artistic expression all wrapped in love.

Oh and for the record since 2000 I work primarily on a PC.  This is another post entirely!

Happy Twenty Photoshop!
